August 16th was a red-letter day for the Centro ladies because it was marked as our Bring-a-Friend Day, promoting the Membership Month of August for the Rotary Year 2013-14.
Dressed in pretty lacey attires, Centro friends Rem Patco, Elvie De Guzman, Naida Casas, Joyce Capacete and members of our new “baby club”, RC Metro Sta. Rosa joined the regular meeting of the RC Sta. Rosa Centro at the Ballroom of the El Cielito Inn.
After having dinner, the meeting proceeded with the traditional banging of the gavel, invocation, and singing of the Philippine National Anthem. The special guests introduced themselves, while IPP Liza acknowledged the members by calling out each one’s badge name.
Community Service Director Evs Laranga gave a detailed account of our recent activities, the Essay-Writing Contest and the Poster Painting Contest. President Doray talked on the future activities of the club, after which she thanked the Centro ladies for their active participation in our activities.
The highlights of the evening were the induction of Baby Rotarian Dra. Jenny Dee, and the declaration of PDG Rey Castillo as an Honorary Member of RC Sta. Rosa Centro. PDG Rey then rendered a heart-warming speech to the delight of all the attendees.
To cap the evening, the Centro ladies sang the Centro hymn, “Sweet Rotary”. And of course, no Centro event will be complete without the usual “picture-picture”. Smile ladies!
