Contest Mechanics

 Description

The Face of Rotary is a six-month long photo contest that will culminate in a photo exhibit from 23-28 February 2014 in SM Sta. Rosa, City of Santa Rosa, Laguna.

The contest is about capturing the FACE of Rotary in a project of any Rotary club is District 3820 encompassing the following places: Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Masbate, and the Bicol region.

The contest’s theme is “Changing Lives” so photo entries must carry this message.

Each photo entry must be sponsored by any Rotary club from District 3820.

A Rotary club can submit as many entries as it wants.

A Rotary club may sponsor as many photographers as it wants.

20 photographs will be chosen as finalists and will comprise the exhibit.

The top three winners will be chosen from these 20 photo finalists.

A Popular Choice Award will be given based on votes in THE FACE OF ROTARY facebook.

Eligibility of Contestants

Must be at least 18 years of age and sponsored by any Rotary club of District 3820 (Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Masbate, and the Bicol region)

Requirements for Entries

• Can either be colored or black & white.
• Taken from any project of the sponsoring Rotary club.
• Electronic file size: 8-1/2” x 11” (bond paper size) and 300 dpi
• Actual file size: 8-1/2” x 11” (bond paper size)
• Taken within the period of 15 July 2013 to 15 January 2014.
• Photographs must not be altered, edited, or changed in any way.

Submission of Entries

1. Entries must include the Contestant’s Name, Address, Date of Birth, e-mail address, and a brief personal description (see Form A)
2. All entries will be announced in THE FACE OF ROTARY Facebook page.
3. Voting for the Popular Choice award will be done on the Facebook page.
4. Entries may be submitted by sponsoring club or sponsored contestant by doing the ff:

• Submit personally to PP Precy Dela Cruz, Parlan Place Bldg., Rodeo Drive, Laguna Bel-Air 2, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna 4026.

Screening and Judging

1. All photo entries will be screened for eligibility by the Screening Committee of RC Sta. Rosa Centro.
2. After the deadline of submission of photo entries, all eligible entries will undergo a pre-event judging by the contest’s Panel of Judges to determine 20 finalists.
3. On or before 31 January 2014, the 20 finalists will be announced via e-mail and text messages to all participating clubs in the district.
4. From 1-25 February, the 20 finalists will be featured in the THE FACE OF ROTARY Facebook Page.  The number of “Likes” and “Share” each photo entry gets will get an equivalent number of points to determine the “People’s Choice” award.
5. From 22-28 February, the 20 finalists will be displayed in a photo exhibit at SM Sta. Rosa.  Photo developing and framing will be shouldered by RC Sta. Rosa Centro.  Each entry will be displayed showing the sponsoring Rotary Club, the photographer’s name, and a brief description of the photo.
6. The Panel of Judges will attend the closing of the exhibit to announce the final winners.

1. Three top awards will be chosen.
2. There will also be the People’s Choice award.

• Php20,000
• Trophy
• A day in the studio of the photographer Sara Black
• 3D/2N stay at Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort in Sabang, Puerto Princesa City with free Underground River tour.
• Will be featured as the cover of the Philippine Rotary for its April issue.

2^nd Prize

• Php10,000 pesos

Other conditions

All photo entries will thereafter be the property of RC Sta. Rosa Centro for use in its news releases, publications, and materials such as flyers, banners, streamers and the like, within or outside the Rotary circle or realm, with proper credit given to the photographer and the sponsoring Rotary club.
