Flagship project of RC Sta. Rosa Centro
March 9, 2013
Now on its 3rd year, the Rotary Club of Sta. Rosa Centro held “Buntis Wellness Day” last March 9, 2013. True to our club’s mission statement, Buntis Wellness Day aims to promote the health and welfare of our less fortunate expectant mothers.
For this year, we decided to source our participants from the different barangays of Sta. Rosa through their respective barangay captains. A total of 50 pregnant women attended the half-day event what started early at 7:30 a.m. PDG Rey Castillo and our very own Mayor Arlene Arcillas graced the event.
Ably assisted by our members President Liza, PE Doray, PP Jackie, PP Carol, PP Leni, Rtn. Evs and the Interact Club of Holy Rosary College, the participants were registered and seated. PE Doray gave them a short briefing about the day’s activities, after which the pregnant women were lead to the consultation tables to be checked by our doctors.
We also invited speakers who gave valuable information to our participants. Dra. Vicky Nepomuceno talked about family planning and responsible parenthood, while PE Doray Lucero informed them on the importance of newborn screening and personal hygiene. Atty. Jonpee Salvahan gave a talk regarding the controversial RH Law, followed by another informative talk by PP Leni Lantin on dental health and oral hygiene during pregnancy.
The participants received samples of Anmum, multivitamins, diapers, snacks and a special gift from Doray’s Paanakan in the form of coupons for free normal child delivery. The participants expressed their gratitude and were very happy with the event.
“Our Buntis Wellness Day proved to be beneficial to all the participants, and a worthy project for our club”, stated President Liza Pineda. “With more improvements to increase participants, I believe that our club will pursue this project in the years to come. I commend our members, in particular PE Doray for selflessly offering her free delivery services to our participants”.
