An essay writing contest sponsored by the club was held last July 31, 2013 at the Sta .Rosa Science & Technology High School in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. A total of 25 students from Grades VII and VIII joined the contest. When the students arrived, they converged and soon listened to the talk of RS Nino Lu on disaster awareness for about 15-20 minutes. The students were very receptive and asked questions.
Thereafter, the students were asked to prepare an essay related to the theme “Ligtas na Bayan, Maunlad na Pamayanan”. They were given 45 minutes to write their essays. Criteria given were: Content 45%, Relevance 45% and Penmanship 10%.
Due to the number of entries, the winners will be announced after two weeks. Prizes will be in cash : P1,000, P500 and P300 pesos for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively.
