The International Coastal Cleanup, spearheaded by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) of Santa Rosa City, took place on September 17 from 5:30 am to 10:00 am. This significant environmental initiative united approximately 2,000 participants representing 75 diverse organizations—including NGOs, companies, schools, government institutions, and civic groups. Among them, the Rotary Club of Sta. Rosa Centro and the Rotaract Club of Santa Rosa Centro actively contributed to the collective effort.
Volunteers were strategically deployed at two designated clean-up stations along the coastal area of Barangay Caingin, where they diligently collected and sorted waste. The collected trash was categorized into four types of waste before being weighed, resulting in an impressive total of 12,039 kilos removed from the coastline. This large-scale effort not only improved the cleanliness of the coastal environment but also emphasized the importance of waste segregation and responsible disposal.
The event concluded with a culminating program attended by City Mayor and Past President Arlene Arcillas, alongside Vice Mayor Arnold Arcillas. Both leaders delivered inspiring messages of support for the project, highlighting the city’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. To express gratitude and encourage continued participation, Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to all participating organizations, recognizing their valuable contribution to the success of the cleanup drive.
